Once again another successful outing!  Congratulations to all of the parents who braved the trip to old town Tucson, everyone showed up on time (Chance was even early, his dad (Mike) did the driving this timeJ) the competition was held at Bear Down Gym on the University of Arizona campus:

 

Session 1 Highlights:

 

Session 1 was comprised of 3 (out of 19) level 4 gymnast, not much opportunity for team trophy but none the less a great showing from Nicholas Elwell, Chance Wurm and Nick Marek.

 

Nicholas Elwell scored 7.3 or higher on every event, finished 7^th in the All Around. After consuming a Detour Bar, he did a beautiful routine on the Horizontal Bar, finishing 2^nd (tie) with a 9.0!  Way to go Nicholas!  Better stock up on those Detour Bars! J

 

Nick Marek also had a great showing receiving 4^th on P-Bars (8.2), 1^st on Floor which required him to painfully force his pancake all the way down to the floor (ah, the sacrifices J), and finished 7^th in the All Around!  Nick, however, also experienced a moment of Karma!  When we were finished on P-Bars and waiting to rotate to High Bar Nick pointed out, with a little snicker, that another gymnast had only scored a 6.2 on P-Bars. Then we rotated to High Bar where Nick forgot to do 2 swings in his routine and scored a 6.0, I wonder who got the last laugh.  Life’s lessons! J

 

Chance Wurm, I over heard someone say, “He’s a machine!”  Actually, I just made that up J.  Chance got 4^th on Rings, 2^nd on Floor, Vault (tie), 2^nd on High Bar and 1^st
